Coronavirus: Cases in Andhra Pradesh cross 1,000-mark; UP prohibits public gatherings till June 30

The total number of cases in India reached 24,506 on Saturday morning and the toll rose to 775, the health ministry’s data showed. In Andhra Pradesh, the cases crossed the 1,000-mark after 61 more people tested positive. The state now has 1,016 cases with 31 deaths.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath said no public gatherings will be allowed in the state till June 30.

Meanwhile, the Centre has issued an order relaxing lockdown guidelines to allow the functioning of select shops within and outside municipal areas. However, the exemptions will not apply to the shops in malls, coronavirus hotspots and containment zones.

Globally, Covid-19 has infected more than 27.90 lakh people and caused over 1.95 lakh deaths in 185 countries or regions.
