The deadly novel coronavirus has infected over 2.5 million people across the world. The United States is the worst affected country by COVID-19 infection as it recorded 644,089 coronavirus cases. The number of deaths in the US has increased to 28,529.

Mumbai to hire 600 healthcare workers
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai’s civic body, will hire nearly 600 healthcare workers over the next week to deal with the manpower crunch at public health facilities, according to a senior official at the BMC. Maharashtra crossed the total of 3000 cases with over 1800 cases in Mumbai.
WHO warns Europe about it being in the eye of the storm
Few European countries moved cautiously to reopen their economies on Thursday but the Covid-19 pandemic is far from over. According to the World Health Organization, the continent was still in the “eye of the storm”.
European countries Italy and Spain have dealt heavy blows due to the enormous amount of fatalities resulting from the outbreak.
Spain’s death toll crosses 19,000
Spain’s Covid-19 death toll has gone past 19,000 on Thursday after 551 people died of the coronavirus outbreak, the numbers reflecting a slowdown after nearly five weeks on lockdown.
Spain is one of the worst-hit countries in the world. Spain has seen a decrease in the number of deaths and infections over the past fortnight. The total fatalities has not reached 19,130.
UK Govt preparing to extend lockdown
The United Kingdom government is preparing to extend the three-week strict social distancing measures that were imposed last month. Initially, the measures were announced for a period of three weeks. The country’s Prime Minister, Boris Johnson is also recuperating after being tested positive with coronavirus.

Maharashtra govt releases five-pronged plan of action
The Maharashtra government unveiled a five-pronged plan of action to fight covid-19 as the state crossed 3000 confirmed cases of coronavirus. Maharashtra is the worst affected state by the virus so far.

Lockdown not permanent solution against COVID-19, says Rahul Gandhi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that the restrictions are only a pause button to curb the spread of the coronavirus but will not defeat the deadly disease.
Addressing a presser through video conferencing here, he appealed to all the political parties to work unitedly in the fight against COVID-19.
34 people tested positive for coronavirus in Karnataka

Nine coronavirus cases reported in Andhra
Nine people tested positive for novel coronavirus, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state to 534. Three each were diagnosed with COVID-19 in Krishna, Kurnool and West Godavari districts.

Coronavirus update: Rajasthan records 1,101 cases
At least 25 new coronavirus cases were reported in Rajasthan today. At least 10 cases were confirmed in Jodhpur, 11 in Tonk, one in Ajmer, one in Bikaner, two in Jhunjhunu. The total number of of positive cases in the state has risen to 1,101. (With Agency Inputs)
