Delhi Violence LIVE Updates: Maujpur area of north-east Delhi continues to be tense with rioters destroying private properties and indulging in arson. Journalists have also been attacked, with rioters forcing them to delete videos and photos of the violence. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia on Tuesday afternoon visited the injured admitted to the GTB Hospital. The death toll in the violence that began on Sunday night has reached seven, including a Delhi Police constable.
The Supreme Court will hear former Chief Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah’s petition seeking lodging of FIRs over the violence tomorrow, while the Delhi High Court will hear petitions seeking an SIT probe and a direction to the Centre to bring in the Army. The apex court is also slated to hear tomorrow two separate petitions seeking removal of Anti-citizenship law protestors from Shaheen Bagh.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was at the Rajghat with deputy CM Manish Sisodia and other AAP leaders, said, “The entire country is worried about the violence that took place in Delhi in past two days. FIR Against Protesters in Mumbai | An FIR was registered today against a group of people who assembled at the Marine Drive in Mumbai late Monday night without police permission to hold a candlelight protest against violence in parts of Delhi, an official said. Several people, including women, gathered at the Marine Drive on Monday night. They said they were against any form of violence and condemned the clashes between pro and anti-CAA groups in Delhi. “We have registered an FIR against 20 to 25 unidentified people for unlawful assembly. No arrest has been made,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sangramsingh Nishandar said.

Delhi LG Anil Baijal Calls for Peace | Amid the violence that has erupted in northeast Delhi, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal urged to maintain peace and harmony in the city. “Both CM and I want that peace and harmony should remain intact in Delhi. SC to Hear Plea on Delhi Violence Tomorrow | Supreme Court has agreed to hear tomorrow an application filed by ex-CIC Wajahat Habibullah and others seeking lodging of FIRs regarding the violence that has erupted in Northeast Delhi. Habibullah, Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad and social activist Bahadur Abbas Naqvi have also sought direction to authorities to ensure safety of women sitting on protest against the CAA at Shaheen Bagh and other places.

Kejriwal to Meet Shah at 12 | Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that “people were entering from the borders” and said they needed to be sealed. He will meet Union Minister Amit Shah at 12 noon today. He asked people residing near temples and mosques to maintain peace, and said it came to his notice that the police deployment is not adequate. “Hospital authorities have been asked to be prepared and provide quality medical aid to the injured coming there. Fire department has been asked to coordinate with Police and reach the affected areas on time,” he said.
