Five more test positive for COVID-19 in Dharavi, tally rises to 22

Five new positive
coronavirus cases were confirmed in
Dharavi on Friday morning, taking the total number of cases in the largest slum of Asia to 22.

According to the initial information released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), two women have tested positive for the infection among the five.

One of them, aged 29, is the wife of a doctor who tested positive earlier, while the other woman, aged 31, is a resident of the Kalyanwadi locality.

The other three men are residents of Muslim Nagar, PMGP colony and Murugan Chawl at 60 feet road.

“Two people who figure in the list of police who returned from Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi were also found positive,” said a senior BMC official. “Both were already quarantined at the Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex and have now been taken to hospital,” he said.

So far, Dr Baliga Nagar in Dharavi has reported the highest number of five coronavirus cases, including one death, followed by Mukund Nagar with four cases.
