Donald Trump held extensive talks with Prime Minister
Narendra Modi during the second-leg of his two-day visit to India. On day 2 of his visit, the US President started his day with a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Trump was then welcomed at the Hyderabad House where he held discussions with PM Modi. Later, he visited Mahatma Gandhi memorial Raj Ghat.

Talks at Hyderabad House
- President Trump held extensive talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi covering the entire spectrum of bilateral ties, including the key areas of defence, security, and trade and investment.
- During their talks at the Hyderabad House, the two leaders are also expected to deliberate on regional issues, including the US’ proposed peace deal with the Taliban, the situation in the Indo-Pacific, the threat of terrorism and the situation in the Gulf region.
- After the talks, the two sides will seal defence deals worth around $3 billion.
- The deals will include procurement of 24 MH-60 Romeo helicopters by India from the US at $2.6 billion. Another contract to acquire six AH-64E Apache helicopters for $800 million from the US is also on the table.
Trumps pay homage at Raj Ghat
- US President Donald Trump, accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump, on Tuesday, visited Raj Ghat here and paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi. They also laid a wreath at the Gandhi samadhi.
- Trump also wrote in the visitor’s book at Raj Ghat. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri was seen standing beside him.
- Trump and the First Lady also planted a tree at Raj Ghat.
Ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan
- In the morning, US President and the First Lady arrived at the Rashtrapati Bhavan for ceremonial welcome, where they were greeted by President Ram Nath Kovind, his wife and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A guard of honour was presented to the US President at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
On Monday, the Trumps arrived in Ahmedabad around noon for the first leg of their 36-hour India visit. The US president was feted at the world’s largest cricket stadium in the “Namaste Trump” event and was cheered by tens of thousands of people. From Ahmedabad, he and his delegation travelled to Agra where they visited the Taj Mahal. The US president arrived in the national capital around 7.30 pm on Monday.
