Early Life of Narendra Singh Negi

Narendra Singh Negi was born on August 12, 1949, in Pauri district. After completing his education, he began his career in Pauri itself. In Pauri, folk songs such as “Bajuband” and “Jhumailo” are sung on special occasions like Bikhauti or Baisakhi festivals, and it was from there that he drew inspiration for singing. Negi says….

Career

After completing his studies, Negi learned tabla from his elder brother and wrote his first song in 1974. His first folk song broadcasted from Akashvani Lucknow in 1976. Negi started his career in music with Garhwali Geetmala, which was released in 10 different parts. The name of Negi’s first album was “Burans.”

In addition to music, Negi has also directed Garhwali films. He has written, sung, and played the role of a music composer in five Garhwali films – “GharJawai,” “Kauthige,” “Beti–Bwari,” “Bantwaru,” and “Chakrachaal.” In 1982, he released his first audio cassette, “Dhebara Harchi Geni.” Negi also writes poetry, and his published poetry collections include “Khuchkandi” and “Gaanyin Ki Ganga Syaunu Ka Samodar.” Negi has sung more than 1000 songs to date.

Life

For example, there was a song on vegetarianism, and before recording it, Negi quit eating eggs and meat. His wife, Shrimati Usha Negi, is also a talented writer.

Her first literary work, “Bawan Vyanjan Chhattis Prakar,” was published in February 2000. A book called “Akshat” based on Negi’s personality and works was launched in his honor. Negi’s fans can be gauged by the fact that on June 29, 2017, after Negi suffered a heart attack and was admitted to a private hospital in Dehradun, people were eager to know about his health. He was the most searched personality on social media, even surpassing Prime Minister Narendra Modi in online searches that time. His fans’ prayers brought him back, and after 10 days of treatment, he was discharged from the hospital.
