Sacred Overview & Architectural Heritage

Haat Kalika Temple at Gangolihat was established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century to balance fierce tantric energies, and stands as the revered patron war goddess of the Indian Army’s valiant Kumaon Regiment. Soldiers and officers of the regiment unfailingly seek her blessings before deployments, and the regiment has contributed extensively to the temple’s restoration and ceremonial bells. Set amidst tall deodar groves, the temple vibrates with devotion and martial heritage.
