What Caused the Dams to Collapse in the Himalayas?
The recent himalayan dams collapse and sustain damage has raised concerns over the stability and safety of these structures. The tragic incident, thought to be triggered by a combination of heavy rainfall and weak infrastructure, resulted in devastating flooding and loss of life. Investigations are underway to determine the exact causes and prevent future disasters in the region.

The United Nations Disaster Management Team is in contact with the Government of Uttarakhand, the National Disaster Management Authority, the State InterAgency Group, Sphere India and bilateral agencies for regular information sharing and coordination.The UNDMT is responding to the request to support the State Government with their rapid needs assessment and strategic coordination efforts at State and District levels.
